Parker 11, Ramsay 5: Thundering Herd rallies late to defeat Rams

Parker rallied late to overcome a three-run deficit and defeat visiting Ramsay 11-5.

Trailing 4-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Thundering Herd scored six runs, then added four more in the sixth for the win.

Parker (9-3, 2-1 Class 5, Area 9) was led by brothers Isom Ford and Jalen Ford who combined for four hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Isom had a single, triple and two RBIs in four at-bats and Jalen had two singles and two runs scored in three at-bats. Rodney Richardson went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs while Joel Ballard was 1-for-3 with a triple, scored twice and drove in a run. Jacob Byrd was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Solomon Muhammad (5-1) picked up the win for Parker by going the distance. He gave up three earned runs on six hits and struck out four.

Justin Wiley had a triple and two RBIs for the Rams (1-7, 0-1). Leland Johnson scored two runs for the Rams. Tavariz Brown suffered the loss in relief, giving up five unearned runs over 1 1/3 innings.
